Chinese White Pine originates from Central and Western China, also Southern Japan. An evergreen tree growing to 20 meters or more in the wild. Its bark is blackish brown to grayish red brown, shallowly cracked or sometimes irregularly fissured, covered by thin and small scales. The bark on young stems is grayish brown, thin and smooth. Darker green than the Japanese variety and much hardier. It is in flower in June, and the seeds ripen in October. Unique thin green cones. Makes an interesting bonsai.
